Royal Wedding Week – Let’s Dance

29th April, 2011

Often given only a cursory thought by the bride and groom before the wedding do is the song choice for the first dance. But they should give it plenty of time and attention because the first dance song is going to stick with them for the rest of their married life… get it wrong and that married life might not be as long as whoever is paying for it would like it to be (or so a colleague of mine tells me).

My guess, in the absence of a pre-earmarked ‘our song’, in most cases the bride will do the deciding and the groom the agreeing.  Lets face it, as Monika points out to Ross in ‘Friends’: The groom has started thinking about the wedding from the moment of the engagement. The bride has started planning her wedding since she is five! (Wedding obsessed Monika also points out to her bride-groom Chandler: ‘Should you refer to our wedding once more as the party – you might not be invited!’)

So here are the UK Top 10 First Dance Wedding Songs as published by UK DJ Directory (http://www.ukdjdirectory.net/articles/article-6.htm):

10 – Robbie Williams – Angels

9 – Savage Garden – Truly Madly Deeply

8 – Whitney Houston – I Will Always Love You

7 – James Blunt – You’re Beautiful

6 – Van Morrison – Have I Told You Lately

4 – Lonestar – Amazed

3 – Shania Twain – You’re Still The One

2 – Bryan Adams – Everything I Do (I Do It For You)
