Market research briefing gives Holsworthy businesses a boost

26th February, 2007

Businesses in a small Devon town have been given a market research boost thanks to a Cornish businessman.

Robert Rush, managing director of Bodmin-based company, PFA Research, was invited to give a presentation on the benefits of market research by the Holsworthy Business Briefings group.

The group, created by Alan Williams, was set up to bring expert speakers and networking to a town which is often overlooked in favour of Exeter or Plymouth.

“It was really nice to be invited to talk to such an appreciative group of businesses,” said Robert, who has worked in market research for 16 years.

“I know from talking to Alan how Holsworthy seems to miss out, so to come and share some of my expertise and know that it will be put to good use is really rewarding.”

During the presentation, which took place at the town’s community skills centre, members found out about what research is, how it can help with marketing and growing the business.

They were also given some basic market research tips to take away and start using in their businesses.

“We were really pleased to invite Robert along to give this presentation to our members,” said Alan, who runs a financial services consultancy in the town.

“Holsworthy sometimes gets forgotten in the world of business, especially against Plymouth and Exeter.

“So to get a speaker of Robert’s calibre along was excellent for the town and its businesses.”

Robert also gave members information on how research can be used when starting a business right through to how it can help the next stages of business growth.
